This is something that should be discussed with your doctor. My only thought is that other doctors have dismissed what Dr. Bitan thought was important. I'm a great believer in second and third opinions.
Katie, I wasn't implying that you were giving medical advice. I was only stating that her symptoms sound like they warrant a medical evaluation by a medical professional. I agree about the 2nd and 3rd opinions!

    Thanks for the help!!!

Hi Mary, I was not saying that you were asking for medical advice. I was posting a general reminder to the SPS community about medical advice. I understand you were asking if others have experienced what you are currently going through in terms of bladder issues. My only concern is that we are all so uniquely different and we are not medical professionals, so any advice the SPS Forum could give would purely be speculation on our part.

I wish you the very best--I was only implying that with your current symptoms the best next step would be to see your doctor, especially since you mentioned this "Well, since I had the episode with the epidural shot, 2 blood patches etc, is when I noticed that my bladder habits had changed, it has been difficult to go, the last couple days I have noticed the 'leaking'."

Good luck and keep us posted!

Rose, just to clarify...you experienced your symptoms after your spine surgery, right? Mary is experiencing her present symptoms not after an invasive spine surgery, but after her recent epidural and the blood patches that were subsequently needed.

OK, I'll step aside and let this great discussion continue...

    Justin,

Thanks for posting those links. I still have issues even after surgery where if I have to go, "I gotta go right now". It's hard to run to the bathroom with your legs crossed. I've tried. Haven't always made it there successfully without some "leakage". Ewww I just grossed myself out

Justin, you are right about my having severe symptoms post-op. Actually it had started way b/4 my spine surgery. It was not severe during pre-op as I have never paid attention to it. I had always thought it was b/c of my back problems. Now that I am free from those adhesion, I remembered how much I had suffered prior!!!! Pre-op my diagnosis along with my spine problems were IBS!!!

Thinking sometimes about all my issues, I should have gone for my adhesion surgery b/4 my spine. Just a thought to share. At last, I would have been able to do my physio/exercises etc... without any problems. Today, I feel I have gone back in time with my back pain!!!!

Hope this helps someone out there.

Rose- Thanks for the heads up on the docs acting like you are crazy b/c of adhesions. As a matter of fact, I was treated like a crazy drug seeker for almost 3 years with my spine pain. No one could tell me what was wrong with me and/or acted like I should be fine. I have learned to be very assertive, persistent and annoying (if need be) to get the treatment and or testing I need. I simply will not take no for an answer, if I have to see more than one doc, so be it. I have already saw my pain management dr and family dr, so far for this and wasn't happy with their plan of action, which is why I am seeing the gastro dr. I have also been researching drs across the US who specialize in adhesions and treatment. I hope that whatever is going on can be handled locally; but if not, I have no problem flying somewhere to get treatment (I live in North Texas and went to Miami, FL for my ADR).

    Hi Kathy,

If you can get to read the following book:

    "Doctors?? bound by secrecy
    "Patients?? bound by pain

Please do so. It's written by Karen Steward. If I am not wrong, she lives somewhere in Texas. Check her website as well. www.karensteward.com
A very nice lady. She relates her daughter's story who suffered for 14 yrs.
They had seen the best Doctors in USA without any luck.

This book was an eye opener for me.

If you need further info, pls PM me.

Take care and be pro-active for your own care.

Thanks Rose, I checked out the website and it sounds like a really good book. I will have to order it. It was interesting seeing what drs diagnose this as, because my family doc said either IBS, endometriosis or adhesions. It is obvious to me that it is not IBS or endometriosis, as the symptoms started about 5 weeks after surgery. I am hoping that the doc I see tomorrow will have a solution. In the medical paperwork that I filled out, it does ask if you have been diagnosed with adhesions. So, crossing my fingers that this means he will have a treatment plan.

Meanwhile, make sure to read the book. As I have explained, unfortunately, in North America, doctors can have a "remedy" but not a "cure".
In Germany, they can "cure" your adhesion for life. I have just returned from there and can speak very positively about it.
Remember, adhesion can return and when they do, they come with a "vengeance".

If more info, contact me. I can't explain all this on the forum. The knowledge is an ocean.
