    Just FYI.

After my moms first surgery (traditional discectomy) she got full beaker (glassware) of her disc and tissue that was removed. And surgeon was smiling like he gave her something that will make her more happy.

    Then her problems begun.

After her endoscopic surgery, doctor Saftic removed small portion of the disc that herniated, smaller than fingernail.

Gil, I can understand your desperation when you are in pain. It appears that these doctors specialties are discectomies (either micro or otherwise). The younger Yeung seems to have investigated some of the new artificial discs but it doesn't list him as having done them.
The discectomy might help your spinal stenosis temporarily and that's what your after.

Let us know what you find out in your consultation.
    Diagnosis:
    Degenerative disc disease throughout spine
Generalized disc bulging with mild narrowing of thecal sac in L2-L3, L3-L4, L4-L5, L5-S1.
    Moderate spinal stenosis L4-L5
    Foraminal narrowing
    Recent compression Fx at T10,T11.
    Treatment:
    Spinal decompression 2007
Cortisone injection in lower back in 2010
    Relieved of pain for now
    Hope for ADR

I agree with Keano. I need to qualify this by stating: "from my own personal experience and observation of others"

After my first discectomy I found great relief for several months but I was not completely pain free. After the second discectomy the pain was reduced but the degeneration advanced at a faster pace. My opinion is that you can only remove so much of the disc before it becomes unstable enough to require more agressive treatment.
