    Default Feb 24th Front/Back Fusion w/ Laminectomy

My surgery will be at Penn Hospital in Philadelphia. Now that it's so true it's really hitting me. Like alot of people I just thought I could go with the pain. But I dont want to anymore. Makes me just want to break down and yell at everything.

I have a friend that just had her yr anniversary and she's on here. Has been a great help in answering my questions and just being there for me. Thanks Karin.

My names Ryan.........I'm getting my son ready for school so I am rushing this morning. Ill add more later.

Ryan to SPS! The people here are just like you & me. Fellow spiney's who know what it's like to be in another's shoes. You will find that people here are non-judgmental, helpful, & there for you when you need a friend.

Take a look through the site. You will find a wealth of information here. Don't be afraid to ask questions. This is a very supportive community & there are many here who are willing to help.

And though I don't really know you,
I'm glad that all of my pep talks have helped you. Now I have to go & write a paper about epidemics/pandemics

    Welcome Ryan!

I'm new here too. Going under the knife on the 21st; it seems we're at pretty similar stages. I was given the option of surgery in November, but really thought I'd make it with conservative therapy. After nightmarish holidays I surrendered, and now that I'm set for surgery I'm actually excited and very much looking forward to it.

Here's to us both being pain free very soon!

Is a second opinion an option? If you aren't sure then it is a good idea. Especially if it can be done quickly and then proceed with surgery as booked. Only my opinion though.

A second opinion is always an option. To me it's not needed. My father is saying if he was I he would. My father is'nt me and doesnt know how I feel everyday of every minute with my leg throbbing or my ass cheek or even the back pain itself.

I'm a single father with full custody of my son and it's come to the point that I barely pick up my 7 yr old son and or rough house play with him because I know it will hurt. My son is my life and I cant let this back problem take over my life. I need to get back to what things were.

If you are happy with your planned surgery then that is good. It can be a good idea to get opinions from a couple of surgeons as they interpret tests, symptoms and offer different treatment plans. Hope that you can soon get back to doing everything you want to with your son.
