I'm seeing Dr. Centeno again this week (10-19-11) for more injections of platelet lysate. First injections didn't provide much if any help but I'm sticking with him as long as he will see me. He is a great Dr. who wants to help you. He spent so much time with me. I believe he will find the problem and help me all he can. Wish me luck!

Well, I had my injections yesterday. Very sore today. Hurting some. Only taken 1/2 of a Percocet 5 today. So, some better. Still a long way to go. He did mention that my piriformis muscles were tight. So we head back out to CO Nov. 15-17. Dr. Centeno is a very good Dr. and I trust him completely. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Maybe some better. Dr. Centeno mentioned that my piriformis muscles were extremely tight. Will focus on those next visit. Spoke with my surgeon from LSI yesterday. Dr. Z is a good man. He really is perplexed that I'm still hurting. However, nothing really to offer. I'm not taking as much percocet as I was. I'm on Lyrica 75mg two tabs in morning and one 75mg at night. Started Cymbalta but no help yet from it. Will give it a month and see. I'm optimistic.

i have had a lot of pain from tight/spasming piriformi in the past - what works best is for a PT and/or massage therapist to work the hell out of it manually, and if that doesn't work - trigger point injections. had them this past spring in my left piriformis - that led to the oh, 5-7 days of truly being pain free that i had after the biacuplasty until i was rear-ended.

it was inevitable that i was headed for surgery eventually... just was hoping to buy another couple of years to get in a better financial/professional/personal situation. but that's life, here i am, and hopefully everything happened for the best!

i don't know anything about platelet lysate injections - are they to heal an annular tear?

Yes the platelet lysate in a nut shell, they take your platelets crack them open and take out the things that they want which promote healing and leave out the things that don't. It speeds up the healing process. Not as good as Stem cells I understand but better than nothing. It looks as though I'm headed for IMS which is similar to acupuncture. how are you doing with the new disc?

i am doing so well i can't even describe it... just 1 week out and i am out and about for hours at a time. having to make myself not overdo it!!! my conditioning isn't what it normally is and that as well as some of the muscle issues will take some time to resolve - but so far i have zero regrets about what i did or where.

Got a question for you experts. My Dr. said my piriformis muscles were extremely tight during the last injections. Can piriformis syndrome cause pain up into the lower back up into the L2 area? I'm sure that they would cause pain on sitting too, right? Any information is appreciated. Thanks.
