Not sure who will remember, I went for diagnosis of my stenosis and nerve impingement at the L4/L5 area...had EMG, catscan, MRI... So the X Stop spacer was recommended and rejected as investigational (maybe a good thing, not sure yet)... Then the surgeon wanted to do a laminectomy and fusion, or a laminotomy and fusion (which I did not understand). So I went for second opinions, so far have two, both say a laminotomy without fusion should be fine, one said that the laminectomy might help my back pain not just my radicular pain but I am fully aware of the added stress that will be placed on discs above and below the fusion... Then I saw a Neurologist that wants to do trigger point injections. My feelings are that I want to deal with this issue at the source, so a laminotomy and a foraminotomy would be better as they could always go in a fuse later if needed, and my experience with injection both epidurals and intraforaminals is that they work the first time for me and the nothing...so going through more injections just does not compute for me at this time.
Thanks in advance
Any opinions would be really welcome.
