Default Medicine by Committee | NPR: Health procedures scrutinized for costs, benefits

This story was on our local NPR station last week. Washington state has created a committee to review common medical procedures and determine if they are "necessary" or not. Sounds like one of the procedures they looking at is spine injections. Naturally it is causing outcry from surgeons who whould like to be able to decide how their patients should be treated. According to the story, Washington is the first state to take this "committee" approach.

    Thanks for posting this Sarah.

Great, another story of other's--not you and your physician--dictating what they think is best for your health.
