    Default Neck and hand pain

My neck has suddenly taken a real turn for the worse the last day or so, and what is hurting at the same time are my hands. They just ache and some of my fingers feel numb and tingly. I'm guessing my hand pain is related to my neck. Is that a correct assumption? But my hands have been aching even before my neck got real bad, which seems odd to me. My neck pain is making me feel nauseous. It can only mean my cervical rhyzotomy nerves have grown back. I swear, when the pain comes back in my neck, it is almost like 24 hour back....that fast. Suddenly, this is at the top of my list to get taken care of. FAST.

    Hi Cindy,

I don't know anything about the rhysotomy nerves you are mentioning, but quite often my hands and arms are numb and tingly without any problems with my neck. Do you always have one with the other?

You are still without your TENS machine? Is it possible that this is muscle more than nerve pain? That the neck is tensing up because you don't have the machine to stimulate/loosen everything in the neck? I'm pretty sure that is what was happening when I was using it. My neck would go into nasty spasms and burning, and then I would get relief after a few sessions on the machine.

Another thing that helped a great deal was an ice pack. It was well worth it. I hope this might bring you some relief.

Thanks Katie. No, I have had this hand pain before the Tens Unit went out. Just don't know. I got about 4 hours sleep and my neck feels about 30% improved. Grateful for that. I should receive both of those Tens Units tomorrow. The extra one I ordered for priority overnight on Thursday and paid an extra $40 dollars or so for that rush is still not here. So much for overnight. I called the company to complain because as I tracked it I could see it was not going to arrive until Monday and this dumbo lady kept saying if I had gone to their policy page I would have seen blah, blah, blah. I countered with how a person wouldn't routinely go to a policy page when they are in pain. They order, they see "overnight rush" and they hit the button. No, I actually should have waited until FRIDAY to order a Saturday delivery she tells me. I told her I was disappointed she wasn't putting the customer first, and I would have been a great customer, ordering alot more supplies, but she just lost my business for good! Over $40, she really could have done the right thing.

Just what you needed...to be jerked around Up here, if they do not meet the delivery time, we are refunded the complete amount. We scored big time this Christmas with this, but it was still disappointing that the parcels did not make it in time. So vent away with us, and then go over her head and check about getting your money back. It won't help the pain, but you might get some satisfaction at least.

I am always so surprised when the neck pain as you described it...causing nausea...is not relieved by the morphine. It does not seem to touch it at all, even though it helps my lumbar pain a great deal. So I am curious if the morphine perhaps does not work on muscle pain, just nerve damage, or something similar like that. Only the TENS and ice work to relieve it.

I hope you get relief soon. Hugs.
