I've heard that the New Balance are pretty terrific, but haven't gotten a pair yet. My hubby did while in the States a few weeks ago, but didn't have them fitted properly, so has to go look for another pair up here now. He has plantar fasceitus (spelling?) But I've been living with my Birkenstocks and love them, no matter how clunky they are.

One of the things I miss most is a nice pair of heels...I loved dressing up with a nice skirt, etc, but I can't use anything with any heel at all now. Not high heels, just an inch or so. But losing weight goes along with that...it will be a long while, if ever if I can do that. Good thing flats are now in style :-)
Severe compression of spinal cord, flaval ligament, etc. at C4/5 & 5/6.
Herniation and compression, at L3/4 to L5/S1 plus spondylosis at the latter level. Severe allergy to most metals.
Three level surgery in Brazil with Dr. Luiz Pimenta on March 17/2010 using non-metal appliances. L5/S1-PEEK cage, ALIF; L4/5-PEEK cage, XLIF; C5/6-NuVasive NeoDisc. Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things . Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. Gone from being almost bedridden to near normal activities including gardening. Life is gooooood!

New Balance offer some very good cushioning sports footwear. You just need to make sure that the last is suited to walking rather than running!

If going out (a rare occurrence now) I put a pair of heels into my handbag, arrive at the place, sit down, put on and don't move! Just so can I wear some of my huge high heel collection. Sad, but it cheers me up. Makes everyone I'm am out with laugh that I can't actually move in the shoes I am wearing as well.

    Alison,
The laughter I got from your post was really good medicine!!!Thank you!
    I can just picture it!!!
I'll add it to my carry abouts...a pair of heels!
I have a pillow I carry to the inlaws coz when we visit it usually lasts over an hour and sitting that long is not so good so I had a cushion made that has a cut out where the tailbone would sit. That way I can sit for a couple of hours no prob!! I'll just slip on my black spikes, settle on to my cushion and I'll be good for the evening!!
....mmmmmmBWAhahahahahah!!! I'm laughing more...they are kind conservative.....and I am relatively new to the family!!!
    Offbalance!!!
