Default Recommend a good neurosurgeon in NY state?

I am looking to travel to NY state from Canada this month or the next to see a neurosurgeon. I have a diagnoses of facet joint syndrome (cervical) and am tired of waiting the 1 year + for the system up here to get me into see a surgeon.

Does anyone have a neurosurgeon in NY state they had a good experience with?

    Cheers

Dr. Bitan. I have never personally seen him, but he has an awesome reputation as one of the bests. You can actually watch a video on Charite's website of him implanting one in someone. I know Katie saw him for a surgical opinion, so I'm sure she will chime in.

Yes, Dr. Bitan was the first one who ever took me seriously. He diagnosed me as urgent because of the pressure being placed on my spinal cord from the cervical discs, plus addressed my lumbar, which everyone else said was insignificant.

He got my images on a Thursday, and I was in to see him on the following Monday...when he said it was urgent, he meant it. OHIP didn't take him seriously either, even though he wrote several letters for me, and contacted surgeons he knew here in Ontario.

I felt so badly...he worked so hard for me, but unfortunately in the end I couldn't afford to go to him for surgery.

Just Google Dr. Fabien Bitan...his contact information will come up right away. His assistant's name is Tom Ross. They are right in downtown Manhattan, about a six/seven hour drive from the border.

Good luck, and if you have any questions, fire away .
Severe compression of spinal cord, flaval ligament, etc. at C4/5 & 5/6.
Herniation and compression, at L3/4 to L5/S1 plus spondylosis at the latter level. Severe allergy to most metals.
Three level surgery in Brazil with Dr. Luiz Pimenta on March 17/2010 using non-metal appliances. L5/S1-PEEK cage, ALIF; L4/5-PEEK cage, XLIF; C5/6-NuVasive NeoDisc. Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things . Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. Gone from being almost bedridden to near normal activities including gardening. Life is gooooood!
