    Default Tailbone Trouble

    Hi
I am a new member. I have been reading this site's entries ever since I hurt my back (2 1/2 years ago), now I would like to submit my back problems to see if there are others suffering with the same issues.
My back conditions have changed over the last 2 1/2 years ever since my horse bucked me off. The accident resulted in a fractured pelvis and sacrum. Both healed but left me with many back issues that have been hard to diagnose.
The newest developement started last May when I developed tenderness in my tailbone. I had been riding bikes but just for enjoyment nothing strenuous.
I had a colonoscopy and a barium enema both came back fine. I had a gyno examine and an internal ultrasound..fine. I have tired corisone shots in the tail bone and a nerve block. Hardly any relief. Now the pain has spread to my inner thighs up near my privates and around my rectum. It feels like I am sitting on a ball. The doctor who is treating me says that my tailbone has a retrothesis of more than 25 degrees and he thinks that is the problem, hense the shots.
Since the horse assicent I have had 3 MRI's all showing several buldging disks and mild stenosis. Right now there is a central bulge in the L5-S1 disk and one in the 3-4 and 4-5.
Through the years I have suffered with sciatica and numb feet. Both of those have gone away. I have been to many doctors who can't seem to help me. None have suggested surgery.
This tailbone pain only hurts when I sit down, thankfully, I still can swim and walk for exercise. Anti inflamatories do nothing so I am not on meds.

    Hi Leonora,

Welcome to the Spine Patient Society!

I'm sorry to hear about your fractured pelvis and sacrum and subsequent issues (in addition to your spine problems). This is by no means a diagnosis, only pure speculation (please follow-up with a trained medical professional): it sounds like you might have pudendal neuralgia without any bowel or bladder compromise.

Here's a quick read on pudendal neuralgia that might be helpful: Pudendal Neuralgia.

I've got to run, but I hope this is a good start. We are here to support you along your journey to feel well.
