Is there a position or situation that makes the tingling subside? I don't remember that being one of my symptoms. Sorry I can't offer a possible cause or solution.

I hope it gets better on it's own though.

Oh my! Thank you all for a REALLY good laugh!

On a serious note, thank you Gil for feeling comfortable about bringing up a very personal subject. I hope that you are able to find some answers and hope that whatever they find is something very simple.

On another tangent, I myself have dealt with a numbness/tingling over the pubic area from time to time. Last I checked, no testicles were involved. My husband is very grateful for that

I had that symptom before the fusion surgery and sadly still deal with it. The only time it happens is if I am sitting down and leaning forward a certain way. Usually this happens when I am sitting at the picnic table at work. Talk about a yucky feeling!! I am guessing that it is something pinching a nerve since it usually resolves itself once I stand up and "walk off" the pins & needles.

    Keep us updated!

Treatment: IDET, Percutaneous Discectomy, SI Joint Injection, Facet Block. All failed. Empire BC/BS Denied Coverage for ADR-lost all of my appeals. MVP also denied coverage.

    Gil,
I cannot remember if I mentioned this earlier tho think that I did~ I had vibrations "down there" and it was the weirdest feeling. It went on for about a month off and on and I can't even remember now when it would happen tho I remember thinking "oh no.. what does this mean?"

Fortunately it just one day stopped and hasn't recurred again. Yippeee. Of course there are those times when I feel water running down my leg and it's not or I think I spilled water on my foot and I didn't. I'm just glad so far nothing is painful because I think if I were to feel a stabbing shooting electric kind of pain in the "nether parts" or anywhere else I'd be at my OSS's office in a heartbeat and probably any other doctor that would listen to me!

I hope you've reported this symptom to your doctor and had some further diagnostics at least scheduled if not performed. Even tho it's a rather intriguing title for a post I hope it's just something that's transient or is very benign and means nothing much. take care and wishing you and everyone else a Happy Thanksgiving where we get to forget about our spinal stuff for a day or so

I was recently diagnosed with Cauda Equina Syndrome. And I am familiar with the tingling, numb buttocks, and spasms in areas that are not fun to have these things in!!

On feb 11th after many hrs editing on my pc I had severe hip, buttock, back pain a re-injury going on repetitive since Oct 11. After getting 2 sets of x-rays that I was told were in-conclusive through my PC physician I made a appt with a local Orthopedic that could get me in in a few days time. During our visit I told him all the numbness in leg & pain and in hip low back and through my saddle area. Then a bit embarrassed I told him I was having mixed pleasure/pain signals in my saddle. He looked at 1 film from the first x-ray & said " ?? they told you these were in-conclusive, " because I see a problem in the low back the height of my disc was abnormal. With the time that had passed the pain I was in & the saddle symptoms he had me stay lying down & called my ins for a MRI that day!! A GOOD doc. that listened! He called me the next day, did not want to see me, but did want me to call my previous neuro who( I had an appt with for still over a month out due to the fact I did not have a MRI yet) when he was faxed the MRI he got me in in 2 days, came into his office JUST to see me! I was amazed!!

He told me I was the record breaker for the most severe blown disc he's had over 80 percent & compete root nerve compressed! He had opp. on a patient two weeks prior & hers had been the worst he'd seen till me!! He told me I had CES & asked if I knew what that was. I cried & told him I did that I read about it on spine universe & that the symptoms they list are like me writing about my own pain EXACTLY! He said if I had had the MRI within 48hrs of symptoms he would be doing surgery that night! But because I had them for 3 weeks all ready we could wait till Sat. Due to a ins glitch waiting for Cobra coverage was put off one more week, then Neuro office call & doc had a death in the family and was again re-scheduled! Finally after 6weeks I had surgery.

I am now 12 days post op & doing great much less pain, some still in the hip & numbness & funny sensations in the foot like burning & a sick funky pain feeling when touched. But they are improving daily.

If it is CES or you suspect CES go to a specialist from the start! Thats my lesson learned. By the way I had cervical fusion @4/5 due to a impinged spinal cord in 2003 from the same surgeon. He is VERY proactive on not doing surgery un-less all other option have failed. With the CES he told me there's no waiting on this one kid!

Sorry for the super long post, but since no one else who answered had CES I though a history would be good.

    Hi Kelley

Thanks for the response and not making a joke about this I have had this problem for months and when mentioned to my surgeon he had no reply, I am trying to contact him and his assistant
with no reply. Dr Pettine in Loveland CO was happy to do surgery, collect payment, and now when I still need help he has written me off. What an A$$.

    Thanks
