Spine surgery is major surgery that takes time to recover from--cervical patients typically heal "faster" than lumbar patients, but there are no "hard and fast" rules. Everyone's situation is different; thus, everyone inherently heals at different rates. Make sure to give yourself time, as you've just had major surgery.

    Hi again Wendy,

It was my cervical. The pressure was better after the first week of PT but now I got stiff after we did the muscular therapy vs the stretching and manuel. Plus we got iced and snowed in here in Oklahoma City so now I feel like I've had a lit' set-back. I have 4 more sessions to go. I hope that I can get some more approved by insurance.

I finally got to where I can swallow for the most part. I lost 10 lbs in 5 weeks. Not a good way to lose weight.

Anyway, I am still having nerve pain into my hand and some on my face. I know what you mean by your legs feeling heavy. I really hate that! It scares me when I get in the shower. I found a fancy shower stool at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. It's kind of a natural wood look. I use that a lot!

But I am glad that the myeloclonic jerks are decreasing. I still have so far to go...the thing that I am having the most trouble with right now is the facet joints. I feel like it well never be normal again.

I am tired of putting on body wears. I have TMJ so I have a bite gaurd. I have low arches on my feet, so I wear shoe incerts. And now they tell me that I should wear a back brace! Gee Wiz it will take me forever to get dressed in the morning. Need more coffee. (said in a Captain Kirk voice)

Take care all and Happy New Year,

    Cher

You guys are great!!!! Hope for a speedy recovery. Ahhh tennis.....a real sport. I remember seeing Ivan Lendl in the US open back in 88 I think it was. Amazing....
    • Pain started 3/09
    • MRI on 7/09 shows Spondylothesis L5/S1 and disc herniation.
    • PT for 4 months, made things worse.
    • Had epidural shot 10/09 with no luck
    • Had a Mylogram in 11/09 for more testing
    • Took time to think if I was going to get surgery.......
    • February 24th is my date to be pain free.
