    Hi Lakeman,

Welcome to the Spine Patient Society.

There are many Spine Patients that have successful cervical fusions. The Spine Patients that frequent our Forums are still usually struggling with pain, so you will see more of the stories that did not go well (those doing well, usually don't continue to post, except for those that enjoy giving of their time to help other Spine Patients ).

You can sort (search) the Surgical Outcomes Forum by clicking on the Thread Title (for example, click on the Thread Title "Spinal Fusion / Cervical" and it will pull up every thread in that Forum on cervical fusions).

Good luck and let me know if you need any help.

    Hi Lakeman,

Well, I'm going to guess that you had your surgery this week, so you'll get this when you are home again and back online, but I had exactly that surgery back in March 2010. I'm glad I did it, and I'd do it again. I say that, but also have to admit it isn't perfect - it aches (all surgical metal seems to) when the weather changes, and my body is taking forever to fuse, but from the last x-rays I am fusing, just v e r y s l o w l y ... but for me it beats the heck out of losing feeling in my body, and not walking well. My only advise? Rest, rest, rest and take time healing.

Best of luck with your recovery!

Dave, thank you for your kind words.
So good to hear from someone with same sugery.
Yes ,I am home ,had sugery on wednesday released on thursday.

As I was being wheeled in the O R, doc said he may not be able to do c6 and 7 as my neck is shaped like a swans neck.
Said he may have to go threw the back on a later date for c6 and c7.
Boy am I glade he waited till the last minute to tell me that, I didnt have to worry about it for two weeks.

Well plan A worked ok, he was able to do both from the front.
Spent a night in motel Springfield MO. before coming home as too much snow at home to drive.
Hospital is 1.5 hours from our home Theodosia MO.

Well going back to my recliner, it is my 24 hour area, bed and chair.
