Both procedures have their "pros" & "cons;" what truly matters is proper patient selection, device placement and a surgeon's experience.
    Words to live by (above).

After two years of research/reading I don't know that I have heard it better stated or in a more easily understood way. Those three elements: patient selection, placement, surgeon experience truly define the results. Thanks.

Enjoy every moment of your reduced pain, even when it still "tickles" at times.

Your strength and optimism in light of such a trying case is rare, sir. Thank you for the updates and your example of humility, patience, foresight, strength and hope. All the best to you in life and good health as you continue to recover, Mark.

Cheers thanks Carson. I know ive definately got some trying times ahead but its just great to have less pain and less medication. It definately makes the surgery worth it.

    Hi all

Ive wanted to post for some time now but havent been well.

My back is still feeling good but my rehabs taken a huge step backwards.

I got very sick with pneumonia 3 mnth post op and have hardly been able to get out of bed since. Still now I am sick and struggling and unable to exercise which really sux's.

At 3mnths things were great though with me swimming 1km 3 times a week and walking several km a day. I was also free of morphine at 3mnths as well and managing that very well as long as I stayed with my routine.

Hopefully things will get back on track soon.

    Mark,

I'm sorry that you are still sick. Are you feeling better since we talked a couple weeks ago? I sure hope that you are making steady progress. It's absolutely incredible that you are finally off of morphine. This is just a bump in road (even though pneumonia is rough) in the grand scheme of things. Keep your head up and you will get through this soon.

    Be well.
