    Dave just a quick question.
I am 12 weeks after surgery and still have neck and upper back pain.
    acdf c5-6 c6-7.
Is it normal to still have pain after 12 weeks.
I quit smoking for a month after surgery and started again.
    Maybe thats why?

FYI Smokers never heal QUIT now for life not just for a month. You will heal faster and enjoy a healther life.

I'm no doc, so I can't say what is 'normal', but I'd have to second what Gilbert said. Every set of stats I've ever seen shows smoking is a HUGE problem with healing, and it gets significantly more so the more levels you have done.

That said, healing for me is an on again off again thing as the body gets used to not moving like it used to. I did find that I am VERY sensitive to sleep positions now, and can really light off my back with the wrong thickness & resilience of pillow etc... just something to think about.

Also, I'm a year + out and still have 'some' pain, but I can feel my arms & legs and don't walk with a cane anymore, so some of it is kinda relative

    Cheers,
    Dave
