Howdy everyone, here I am 10 hours post-op from my ADR surgery. Doc said that my disc was worse than he had expected but I am so amazed over the fact that almost all of my neurological symptoms are GONE! No more tingling and pain shooting down my arm. The numbness is still there but it will subside my neuro-surgeon told me so I am feeling confident about that. However, I have extreme pain in the back of my neck and my throat. I was told it was expected since they bend the back of your neck during surgery and the retractor causes the throat pain. Unfortunately I have a bad reaction to the anasthesia and can't keep any soft food down...can't hardly drink water without upsetting my stomach. I've been given meds to help with it and is still waiting for it to kick in...trying to avoid too many pain killers...looking forward to go home tomorrow to my own home, bed, couch, and most of all family. I will try to update as my recovery progresses. Thanks for reading!

Thank you guys! I was so nervous and had second thoughts the day before surgery but now I can see that it most likely will be worth it. The doctor just told me that the nerve canal was 3 mm wide and that the ruptured disc he removed was 3mm X 5 mm wide...in other words, there was no more room for my nerve roots at all! I am glad that I had such a speedy road to surgery. It only took 1 1/2 month from the time of my MRI to the day of my surgery. Let's hope recovery will be as speedy - knock on wood![]()
