Default CD- Freedom L4/L5 at Texas Back Institute

    Hello Everyone,
I had my surgery this morning at 9:30. It went really well. I am pretty pumped because I got the Freedom disc. My LBP is being controlled well with the pump. My incision is not bad at all so far. The only difficult thing has been the pain in my left hip and thigh. I just got a valium shot and it is helping a great deal. It looks like PT will not be by until Friday morning so I have not been up yet to walk. I will type a longer post tomorrow.....the pulse/ox thing makes it kind of laborious. I want to thank you all for your encouragement, advice, concern and personal stories. My husband has been a real trooper. I have bugged the tar out of him asking for lip balm every three minutes. Cannot say enough good things about TBI and Dr. Zigler....Healthcare as it should be.

Dear Justin, Alison, Dave, Jeff and KenG,
Thanks for the posts. I realize I should have titled my thread differently. I was a little loopy last night. Justin, is there any way I can change the title of my thread to "CD- Freedom L4/L5 at Texas Back"? This would make a little more sense.

I would still say I am well but the newness and excitement is wearing off. I switched from the pump to oral meds and it looks like I will probably just have to put on my big girl pants for that last hour every time they are administered. My hip and leg pain is a little better. I am also now feeling my incision pain. I have been up walking in short spurts and will continue to do this. A little while ago I had a meltdown with a few minutes of crying. I felt like a preschooler with no control over my emotions. I took a shower and put on my flannel pjs and feel a little better. I remember most people saying their worst days are a few days out, so I know I will need to suck it up and make it through. I am grateful to be on the other side and at the beginning of a new journey. Thanks for thinking of me. Justin please PM me when you get a minute about how to change my thread title.

    Thanks!

Awesome you got the freedom, that is great to hear. I anticipate this disc to truly last 40 plus years if not more.
Riding 4 wheeler and playing basketball. Collide with guy in mid air and I hit concrete on one leg and then fall down. Wake up in pain cant move for few hours, fine few days later. Back never the same.

dec 2007 horseplaying with father, contained l5-s1 disc herniation with sciata on right leg, traction helps and time, pain free, diagnosed ddd l4/l5 and l5/s1
