Hello All,
Sorry I havent been on here since my surgery........I dont have a real reason as to why I just dont enjoy going to where the computer is in the dining room and sitting there using it.
If anyone needs a refresher I had L5/S1 fused from the back and a Laminectomy from the front using a PEEK Cage that has the sponge like material using some bone cells from my hip.
The surgery went great!! I had it on Wednesday the 24th and was out of the hospital on Monday the 1st. I'm glad I was there an extra day just to make sure I was good to go.
Having a trash bag on the car seat was probably the best advice anyone has given me for getting in and out of the car. I went so far as using one on the recliner as well at home....still do now. Using a reacher like the Gopher is great also. Cant tell you how many times I have dropped the remote control so far. Ha ha ha.
Keeping up on your pain in so important. Please!!!! Dont hesitate to ask if you need more while at the hospital. While at home make sure you are using stool softener and or laxatives with your pain pills because if not you will get backed up and that is very painful as well.
My sciatica is totally gone and I just feel tightness around my lower back which will go away soon. I feel great and couldnt be happier I took this step.
Save the best for last....my girlfriend has been amazing taking care of me all this time. Sweety you are truly amazing and I love you dearly. I'm planning a get away for her at a spa/salon for several hrs of pampering to show my appreciation.

My memory is foggy...could you tell me where you went for surgery?
I'm wondering if your tattoo could somehow be incorporated into the incision line when it is all healed![]()
Severe compression of spinal cord, flaval ligament, etc. at C4/5 & 5/6.
Herniation and compression, at L3/4 to L5/S1 plus spondylosis at the latter level. Severe allergy to most metals.
Three level surgery in Brazil with Dr. Luiz Pimenta on March 17/2010 using non-metal appliances. L5/S1-PEEK cage, ALIF; L4/5-PEEK cage, XLIF; C5/6-NuVasive NeoDisc. Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things. Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. Gone from being almost bedridden to near normal activities including gardening. Life is gooooood!
Thanks a lot guys. I cant believe how well I am doing. Every single day I am feeling better.
Katie I went to Penn Hospital here in Philadelphia, my surgeon is Dr. Scott Rushton with 3B Orthopeadics. I might play around with the idea of adding on to my tat....we'll see.
I go back on the 25th for my 4 week check up to take xrays....I cant wait to see how everything is looking.
You all were great the weeks before my surgery and the same afterwards. Thank you so much for the support and advice. I couldnt of done this without all of you.![]()
