Just plain WOW. I am so thrilled for you and surprised as well at your progress. Every surgeon I have seen over the past three years has told me that they cannot reverse the symptoms I have from the cervical myleopathy, only stop the progression. You are here to prove them wrong

Thank you so MUCH for giving us hope and faith that our lives can indeed get better over time, that we aren't washed up so to speak. I can't tell you what hope this give me, and countless others.

I wish you well, and hope you continue to post your progress.
Severe compression of spinal cord, flaval ligament, etc. at C4/5 & 5/6.
Herniation and compression, at L3/4 to L5/S1 plus spondylosis at the latter level. Severe allergy to most metals.
Three level surgery in Brazil with Dr. Luiz Pimenta on March 17/2010 using non-metal appliances. L5/S1-PEEK cage, ALIF; L4/5-PEEK cage, XLIF; C5/6-NuVasive NeoDisc. Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things . Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. Gone from being almost bedridden to near normal activities including gardening. Life is gooooood!

You are living proof to follow your own convictions and trust what your gut is telling you. No matter all the consultations, every last opinion, all of the tests, the ultimate decider is us.

Here's hoping for a continued progression forward.

    8 weeks post op!

My neck is just about pain free. Only occasional aches, twitches and little things but no pain. My missing beard has grown almost 2 inches underneath, just about hiding the scar,

No strong headaches since the surgery. A couple of very light ones of similar nature. The last bad one was the day of the discogram!

My arms and hands are doing great. I am still getting regular bouts of slight numbness and hands going cold only to recover as soon as I stop what ever I am doing and slow down a little.

    One other notable improvement:

Over the years I have developed a strong sciatic pain running down my right leg while drivig a car. It got worse over the last several years and would lead to me literally not beiing able to push the gas pedal after no more then half an hour so I would have to stop driving. It mixed with the foot pain and backpain so I thought it was from that. So I have the lumbar surgery and the backpain is more or less gone, the footpain is gone but this pain still develops when I try to drive a longer distance it runs down my my leg starting in my buttock and all the way to my foot where it disables my foot from being able to press the gas pedal. Agonizing pain and no strength. After the lumbar surgery 2 years ago I still had this but to a lesser degree. I found that holding head still and only use mirrors helped a little, just like it did my arm problems.
But here is the kicker, this pain is now 90 percent gone!!! I drove 8 hours the other day!!! I have that constant sizzle in my feet but no more leg pain developing as I drive for more then 30 minutes. Shows what a neck problem can do. Most in US said my neck is not a problem! Everybody thought it came from my lumbar, even to te extent of stating I had a bad ( adr!) surgery, exept one german neurologist. I am so glad no more bad headaches, nice side benefit!.

I was not able to shift a motorclycle anymore due to no strength in my (left) foot so I will try my atv soon for the first time in a year to see if I can shift now...

And my feet sizzle on but it is nothing really compared to all the problems before...

I am sure there is more to report as to my how my myleopathy symtoms will do over time and I will update it here.
Nov 07: Fusion (Stalif) S1/L5, ADR L4/5 (Activ-L)for strong back and leg pain (Zeegers, Germany).
Nov 09: 2 level cervical ADR Prodisc-C (Nova) C4/5/6 to stop progression of cervical myleopathy. (Bertagnoli, Germany).

    Fuzzy,

    A thousand congratulations!

Our stores are almost the same. I had a double cervical ADR in Europe two days before yours. For almost three months prior to surgery I was only barely able to get up off of my couch. Today I'm 100% pain free, running 50 miles a week and have only a residual problem swallowing.

I feel your glee and your joy.

    Again congratulations!

C4-5: Mild disc height loss with central annular fissure. Small broad-based left paracentral disc protrusion. Moderate central canal stenosis-the disc protrusion abuts and mildly flattens the left ventral surface of the spinal canal.

C5-6: Disc desiccation with mild height loss.Diffuse discosteophyte bulge and uncovertebral joint hypertrophy, moderate central canal stenosis- Severe neuroforaminal stenosis bilaterally, right greater than left

Fuzzy your disc seem larger then mine. Should I be jealous? Is your pic normal or extension?
