    Agreed.

I am stepping into this with great trepidation, but I cannot leave this without a response.

Stenum was my first choice for surgery, and for numerous reasons, none of which have anything to do with your experience, I had to go elsewhere. Why did I choose Stenum initially? Because I had spoken to so many people who have had nothing but success and great results from them. I have even met and become close friends with several patients and they continue to live full lives, very thankful that they could get help there, and nowhere else.

From their description of their trip there, I have serious doubts about several of your 'facts'. For example, one of my friends said that a potential patient that was there at the same time as she was, was sent home because he ended up not being a successful candidate. They do not do surgery on 'everyone'.

So here is my biggest question....since you have been so much luckier than most, and actually had what sounds to be a fully funded fairly successful surgery, would you rather you didn't have it in the first place? Would you prefer to still be in your original pain? Few of us are ever completely pain free...even with surgery, our bodies continue to change and deteriorate.

One of my past surgeons with whom I consulted told me that I may wake up with a different appliance than what we wished for, depending on what he found when he got in there. In fact, my husband had to make a decision for me while I was under anesthetic with the surgeon I did have. Things change when the surgeon sees things in real time. And I would have been and was fine with that. I am just thankful to finally have a chance to be out of pain and have my life back.

I find it interesting that with all the people that you have apparently contacted, even with your site up and running, that no one has put a derogatory comment on it. Or any for that matter.

I think it is time to get on with life and appreciate what you have. If a mistake was made, then I am very sorry for that, but to spew this venom is both counterproductive and immature. This site was created to help spine patients, not be a forum for this sort of thing.
Severe compression of spinal cord, flaval ligament, etc. at C4/5 & 5/6.
Herniation and compression, at L3/4 to L5/S1 plus spondylosis at the latter level. Severe allergy to most metals.
Three level surgery in Brazil with Dr. Luiz Pimenta on March 17/2010 using non-metal appliances. L5/S1-PEEK cage, ALIF; L4/5-PEEK cage, XLIF; C5/6-NuVasive NeoDisc. Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things . Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. Gone from being almost bedridden to near normal activities including gardening. Life is gooooood!
