    Exclamation Hello Im new too....Surgery in 3 days!!! (Artificial Disc Replacement L4-L5, Fusion L5-S1)

    Just wanted to get through the introductions....Im set to get and ADR and a fusion in just 3 days. Im really looking forward to this procedure as I have been waiting for about 8 years now.

    Diagnosis
    Mild DDD at L3-L4
    Moderate to severe DDD at L4-L5
    Severe DDD at L5-S2
    Mild impingement on the right S1 nerve root
    Severe stenosis right and left L4-L5
    Severe impingement at moth L5 nerve roots
    Arthritis in several lower level Facet joints

    =Back hurts a lot

    Treatments
    3 or 4 RF treatments (worked for a couple of months each time)
    4 Lumbar SRNB's
    Discogram Jan/2010
    :thumpup: Scheduled for ADR at L4-L5 and fusion at L5-S1 "Hybrid" on 05/25/2010

    2009 May 2nd Op Failed revision fusion on L5/S1 with Charite ADR in situ
    2008 Caudal epidural exacerbated nerve symptoms. Prolapse L2/L3
    2007 L5/S1 Facet deterioration
    2002 March 1st Op ADR Charite - L4/5, L5/S1
    2000 Disc prolapses L4/5, L5/S1

    Sorry to hear about all your troubles but I'm happy you are receiving the treatment you need....not to mention the one I wanted/needed/deserved but BCBS didnt want to pay....so I am getting a 2 level fusion instead of hybrid. .....somethings better than 8 years of nothing Hope everything works out for you and dont hesitate to ask if you need anything. Good luck and congratulations on the next biggest step in your life

    Welcome to SPS! Wishing you luck on your surgery. I have a lot of the same problems as you such as the arthritis and severe ddd at L5. 8 years is a long time and I hope this surgery will make you pain free. Please post about your surgery and recovery. What kind of disc are you getting? You take care now and look forward to hearing from you on the other side.

    Welcome to the forum and best of luck in recovery! I can't imagine waiting 8 years for surgery, mine took 3+ years and that was pure hell, so 8 it unfathomable to me. Praying for many pain free days ahead of you!
    31 years old- 1/06- In wreck with 18 wheeler at 25 years old; 6/06- Head on collision on Interstate, both wrecks other drivers fault. Numerous MRI's, PT, chiropractic, acupuncture, TENS therapy, massage therapy, facet injections, epidural injections, Nerve study, Discogram, confirms pain in L4/5, IDET, decompression, Bi-lateral neurotomy L3/4/5, denied by insurance twice, in Active L clinical trial, had surgery March 17, 2009 in Miami, FL- received Active L disc at 29 years old. Pain and medication free as of October 2010!Mommy to Emma- 8 years, Ava- 6 years & had baby Eli after ADR, via c-section on March 25, 2011 , completely pain free still!

    Welcome. Where (state, hospital, doc) are you having the surgery?
    Diagnosis:
    Degenerative disc disease throughout spine
    Generalized disc bulging with mild narrowing of thecal sac in L2-L3, L3-L4, L4-L5, L5-S1.
    Moderate spinal stenosis L4-L5
    Foraminal narrowing
    Recent compression Fx at T10,T11.
    Treatment:
    Spinal decompression 2007
    Cortisone injection in lower back in 2010
    Relieved of pain for now
    Hope for ADR
