Default I'm curious about a symptom and others experience??

I'm now 5 weeks post op and overall am doing fairly well. The pain I had prior to surgery is completely gone. Everyone told me how horrible the pain was going to be after surgery, but I've found it to be less than what I felt at my worst last fall when I was trying to get all this diagnosed and developed pneumonia at the same time. That was a 12 on a 10 point scale. Everything hurt then and nothing touched it! (Not even the IV stuff.) As I said, that pain is gone. Overall, my current pain is in my lower back at the incision site. Ranging between a 4 and 6 most days.I am also now experiencing isolated spots on my calves, knees, etc. having a burning sensation, which comes and goes but a new thing. Kind of feels like a mild charly horse when it's happening. I know it's from the surgery and the healing process and not really related to any movement. I certainly haven't done anything to earn a charly horse! For those who had this kind of symptom post surgery, how long before it went away for you?? I'm not really concerned about it, but am curious.
Just wondering, cause it's kind of annoying.

It's 6 weeks post op today. My symptoms seems to have settled down. They must have been muscles spasms due to the extra work being put on my leg muscles to get me around without bending or twisting my spine as my back muscles protested at being put to use. Now if only my lower back muscles would stop freezing up, on occasion, when I go to stand up or walk!

I am writing to say "welcome" to this site. I'm glad you are pleased with the results of your surgery, even though there are some residual symptoms. I have cervical issues, not lumbar ones, so I can't offer much feedback related to your question. There are other members who have had lumbar surgery and I am sure they will respond to your post. Best wishes for your continued recovery.

Diagnosed in February, 2011, with "moderately-severe to severe" stenosis at C 5-6 and C 6-7
I have nerve root compression of C-6 and C-7
Local surgeons have advised I will require a two-level ADCF at some point, but don't want to do it now because of lack of spinal cord compression symptoms.
