    Dear Katie,
That was a great web site that you had on your thread. It really show how long it could take for everything. I enjoyed reading and printing out all that was available on it. I don't think I have ever come across it before. It sure explained a lot to me and with surgery in a few days, it was certainly helpful. Thank you for it. Carmen

Thanks Carmen, but Alison (ajj1001) was the one who deserves the credit for finding that . She posted it when I was double-checking about the limitations I need to put on myself for the fusions. She is always great for coming up with the right information...thanks again Alison.

Some days I think I need to paste them to the bathroom mirror & fridge!
Severe compression of spinal cord, flaval ligament, etc. at C4/5 & 5/6.
Herniation and compression, at L3/4 to L5/S1 plus spondylosis at the latter level. Severe allergy to most metals.
Three level surgery in Brazil with Dr. Luiz Pimenta on March 17/2010 using non-metal appliances. L5/S1-PEEK cage, ALIF; L4/5-PEEK cage, XLIF; C5/6-NuVasive NeoDisc. Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things . Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. Gone from being almost bedridden to near normal activities including gardening. Life is gooooood!

Hopefully it won't be long before we both can bend away! I managed to swim some lengths without any flotation devices so whilst its a long haul I'm getting there.

That's awesome Alison! I'm such a weenie, I haven't gotten in our pool yet....it just isn't warm enough

The warmest it (water) has been is 80 F., and now with the days being cooler, it is down to 74 F. <-----me shivering . I got a new swimsuit...finally found one in a tall size....since I'm almost a couple of inches higher...but while the air conditioner is on inside, I have only watched our friends splashing around out there. A hot shower appeals to me more, but hard to do exercises in that

Wow, we are already having 100 degree days here. I also can only swim when it's hot, it has to be at least 90 for me to get in. We went a couple of times when it was in the high 80's and it was just too cold for me. I love swimming on a hot day.

I left you a message Katie wishing you well with your story when ever you choose to write it, and thanking Rob for his photo expertise

No worries as it looks like the vanishing posts problem is being fixed with an upgrade. I wanted to say I saw your reply before it went poof and that I will be encouraging you on occasion as you suggested to put pen to paper and commit your story to a book, PDF or word doc. The power of success stories and tips in contending with government agenda and the business of insurance cannot be measured, even if it takes 3 or 4 years to find the right time and space to write it. I've read some stories including Wille Beeman's if you all know him. I didn't quite understand his story, however.

Hello Katie, wow, what an awesome story.

I now read it all and I feel bad I missed it unfolding, but, fast forward, you are doing really well and with determination managed to do something about your situation in a well researched way and were sucessful. I hope that your well documented walk down this path of spine surgery will help others on their quest.
