Probably because no one knows the answer to the question! I've had a PLIF so can only comment on personal experience of that. Hope you can find some info somewhere.

I'm waiting for my third spine surgery, what was your first op?

I don't have a clue, which is why I didn't comment either. Sorry, I'm not any help. Look in the video and educational resources on the forum and there may be more there.

I've never had a fusion so can't speak on that; but any spine surgery should be taken seriously. Some do really great with pain control after surgery and others (me) do horrid. I literally prayed for death for 2 days after from the pain. It's not super common in the US for them to give you an epidural for after surgery pain, but I would ask/ demand one. It seems the people with them do so much better than those of us without them (though that's not all of us). Best of luck

the actual op was alot easier than my previous 2 level ADR. I had really effective pain relief (fentanyl). the recovery is very long and tedious with it's no bending, lifting or twisting.

Hi, I've heard about ILIF. It was more widely used in past, currently I think dr. Yeung (younger one) is using this in DISC (desert institute for spine care).

    Good luck

ILIF = intertransverse lumbar interbody fusion

Here's an abstract about ILIF... Intertransverse lumbar interbody fusion.
