However, I asked about the infection risk and was told its no greater post surgery that pre just a little trickier to clear up. Hope that helps. Keep in touch and good luck
Very sorry to hear about the pain level with injection, not fun at all! I do hope that since you have had it, there are no problems and you find relief from your pain. Keep us posted.

For me, I just don't know what to do. I took a very basic Yoga class on Thursday and think it's not going to work. To many times trying to get up and down on mat and positions I just can not do . So I will table that idea and try harder to find a pool for exercise.

    Katie,

I think I agree that the risk is way to great having an any injection post op. Of course, that being said - I stopped by another pain management doc office (one around the corner from my PT who said he was good) and inquired if he did epidurals post op with instrumentation. The front desk person asked the doc personally and he said yes, but of course I need to schedule an evalutation.
Not sure why I felt the need to check on this, except to get another opinion. But, at the end of day, everyone has to follow their own heart and feelings and make the right decision or them.

    Thanks Jan

P.S. Not sure it's okay to do so, but I think I will start a new post with this question, with hopes it will be helpful to others to learn and give input.

Good that you are checking on things again. I am sorry...I know I sometimes come across as a busy body and have strong opinions, but I've got some gut feelings about this. I've been treated by 'good' doctors and misdiagnosed so many times that I just don't trust one person's professional opinion anymore. This could lead to complications without providing any benefits....I guess that's why I feel so strongly about it.

But as you so rightly said, everyone has to follow their own heart and feelings. No one knows your body as well as you do...stick to your instincts, but with an educated background.
Severe compression of spinal cord, flaval ligament, etc. at C4/5 & 5/6.
Herniation and compression, at L3/4 to L5/S1 plus spondylosis at the latter level. Severe allergy to most metals.
Three level surgery in Brazil with Dr. Luiz Pimenta on March 17/2010 using non-metal appliances. L5/S1-PEEK cage, ALIF; L4/5-PEEK cage, XLIF; C5/6-NuVasive NeoDisc. Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things . Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. Gone from being almost bedridden to near normal activities including gardening. Life is gooooood!

Katie, I really appreciate your "gut feelings", makes sense to me!

I did put out a new post regarding Epidural injections post PLIF under Spinal Fusion Surgery. So, it will be interesting to see the response if any. So you may want to reply to that one, so other can hear you thoughts!

    Hi Jan,

I replied to your other thread regarding epidural injections post fusion with instrumentation in the Diagnostic Tests & Spinal Injections Forum. Here's the link: Epidural Injection Post Op PLIF with Instrumentation - Risk vs Benefit Question
