Yes, Grayson, I have skiied also since my 3 lumbar ADR's. And Alison is absolutely right....try to get your core strong before the season, and your quads too, of course. Definitely wear a helmet. I personally haven't worn a back brace, because I want my abs to do the work. I haven't skiied alot since my big surgery, and I definitely don't do black diamonds anymore, but I hope to ski myself into the grave.

And Ben, that is such awesome news you are feeling so well, so soon. You must be young! he he!

    Default Ski Bum

I miss skiing like crazy. I cannot wait!

Justin, I missed your earlier questions about meds, distraction pain, etc.

Have incorporated an eight pound ball into my core/abs. Next is to start strength training on machines at my gym....as soon as I get off my lazy butt!

I take advil for pain at this point. But I really haven't had much pain because I haven't done much. I have found that inactivity causes me more problems than being active and getting exercise. Badminton on steroids has not bothered me at all. I have 5 brothers and we were all together this weekend. Let your imagination work.....none of us like to lose! I didn't know a shuttlecock could go Mach 3!

I still have lingering distraction action.....pain in my toes and jumpy legs every once in a while at night. This is getting better by the day. I take 100mg of neurontin for this. I am pretty sure I will be able to suspend this very soon.

Took a couple of golf swings and got immediate bad feedback. Won't do that again for a few months. Scared me.

    Live long and prosper!

I have found the same thing out too. When I would have a bad day and lay around all day, then the next day would be worse, it's an evil cycle if you let it go on.

Right before my injury, I was getting into golfing. Nothing major, just hitting balls at the driving range in preparation for a real game. I went to the range a year and a half ago and paid for it for a week. I'm really wanting to go give it another try; but think it is still too soon. I just got my hubby some new irons for his birthday (Callaway X-20 series). I then bought him the matching woods and driver too. He said his game has improved (his other clubs were really old) and he is wanting to take me and the kids to the driving range. I think when we go, I will just help the girls and watch.

Have fun! Are you going to ski a half or full day when you go up?

Be careful with the 5 brothers--I have only one brother and things were really rough, I can't imagine 5 -- it must be like a football locker room.

Your distraction pain sounds very manageable! Make sure to start with very light weight, high repetitions when you get back on the strength training equipment in the gym. I'm sure you know this.
