Hello Everyone,
I am in Germany and will be having 2 adr this afternoon. L4-5 and L5-S1. Had originally planned on having a fusion at L1-2 but the doctors and I have ruled that out for now. The doctors at Stenum are exceptional....totally patient oriented. Wish me luck and send some prayers my way if you can. Thanks and I'll update more later.

Ben, Good Luck, you are in awesome hands, and will have a wonderful surgery and recovery! Just curious, did they do a discogram and decide that l1/2 was not your pain? Or, why did they decide to change levels and procedures?

Please tell them that Terry Newton said to say hi. I am a fan of theirs, at Stenum, after having four ADR's installed in my spine in 2006. You are in good hands and I hope to hear more from you, later, after your surgery.
Hang in there.

Five days post surgery and am doing great! This is the first time I have tried to sit in front of the computer. Walking more every day. My pre-surgery pain is gone. Amazing. Post surgery pain is reduced every day. Injected lidocain in L1-2 facet joints to see if my pain changed at all prior to making decision about fusion at that level. Pain was no different so we decided to not do it. Have had a overall wonderful experience at Stenum.....every surgery is planned. No trauma or drama comes in their door so everything is orderly and laid back. My surgery mates John, Tom, Bruce, Isham, and Leslie have all had great outcomes too. Bruce had two adr in his lumbar two weeks ago and four adr in his neck one week ago. First person ever. Amazing. He is doing great.
I was nervous, scared and afraid about the surgery but must say it has been a great experience at Stenum. Will update you more in a few days.

Congratulations Ben!
I remember waking up fully to the same reality. It's tremendous that your surgery went smoothly and sounds as if it were a complete success.
Christine (a real sweetheart) and the rest of the nurses are great, aren't they?
I hope you and your wife enjoy the rest of your stay in Germany and have a smooth flight home.
