    Lumbar L5/S1 -- Kraze Kat, Germany, 6.24.09

In and out, but overqll fine, Operation went well. Just some kinks with pain control. They tried uncessfully to start Iv's all over. First vein collapsed, second, same thing. Everywhere else (hand, wrist, inner elbow, shoulder, and foot) unsuccessful. Finally they had to sedate me (again) and go for the neck. So far so good. Walked assisted to bathroom today! (Pain controlled the whole day's activities). And I hear my cat is behaving well with his sitter . When I'm not in and out, I'll return.

    KK,

Good to hear that the surgery went well. Don't hurry on the posting, there will be plenty of time for that later. Rest, take it easy and try to stay ahead of the pain with your meds.

Congratulations on the successful surgery. The newer technology is awesome. In the old days you would have had a fusion that probably would not have been successful due to adjacent segment disease. With the artificial disc you should have a long, successful career in whatever you decide to do. Even career military may be a possibility for you where you may have received a medical discharge years earlier.

Please keep us informed about your healing. Ask away as we will help to normalize your experiences because we have been there.

    Getting over it

Still in the "Krankenhaus" (hospital) but doing much better. Started on solid food today and almost completely off pain meds. I had the stupid IV removed from my neck today! Few more kinks to work out and I will be homeward bound (where the real test will begin)

When does it get better??? Back home and trying to bear it. This part sux! Even the meds tend to not help much. Hopefully will be starting physical therapy soon. Also, Did anyone else have severe bloating issues? No matter what I do, I'm bloating! (Being a female does not help, either) Ugh!
