    Default Microdiscectomy L4/L5

    Hey there,
I'm just over a year out of my first (and hopefully only...) spine surgery. I underwent an endoscopic microdiscectomy of my L4/L5 in the end of december 2008. I had debilitating sciatica for 5 months previous and tried every type of treatment i could think of (core strengthening, chiropractic, accupuncture, deep tissue massage, epidural steroid injections) before resorting to surgery. My only goal was to never miss a ski season again... Unfortunately i've relapsed. I either irritated it or reherniated it skiing on some harder snow and have been dealing with the recurring symptoms for the past 2 weeks. I'm hoping some rest and mental recuperation will alleviate it!
I'm excited to learn of others success stories and share from my own!
    cheers
    Rory

    Hi Rory,

Welcome to the Spine Patient Society!

I'm sorry to hear that you are dealing with pain once again. I used to been a ski bum (ski patrol) before I injured my spine...I miss it so much.

Are you currently doing any conservative therapy for your spine (physical therapy, medications, etc.)? I hope we can support you along your journey and that you are able to ski many more days in the future!
