Thank you Justin for your comments. Very interesting. Yes, please let me know about your pain levels in the coming weeks as you push on in p.t. Are you on any pain meds at all now Justin? Just curious. I'm thinking you aren't. Anyway, I am going to pick up my walking and or biking more and see how it goes. I wish I was on more pain meds to do it, or do a week's steroid dose to jump start me. I couldn't do my p.t. this week because we are normally in the therapy pool and I can't get this wrapped up thumb wet, this week or next.
One thing I did finally handle was meet with my son again this afternoon and finally let him know I really can only watch the baby 1 day a week. 2 days, and they are always consecutive, is just too hard on my back. The day after those 2 days of watching her I am completely shot, and lose the whole day.Not good. So, he was very receptive to it, and I told him I would not leave them high and dry until they find someone. I am so glad I got that off my chest. I have to focus on getting physically strong. I just have to.

CL- I definitely believe that the lack of core muscles could be causing pain. I feel like that is a big part of my problem. I have asked my pm dr. to prescribe a higher dose of medicine to get me going on a good pt program, to get me over the hump; but can barely get him to manage the current pain. I just can't hardly make myself move when I am in pain, much less work out. I know it will help me, it's just so hard to do when it hurts so bad.
You and I had surgery right around the same time, we can be each other's pt motivation!

Yes, I am with you Kathy. It is so hard for me to get motivated too, when I hurt. I get up, get my morning coffee, and immediately sit back down. It wasn't that long ago, before my bike accident, my routine was to daily jump out of bed, throw on a baseball cap and work out clothes, brush teeth, grab a coffee to go, and head to the Y for my work out. Every day. If I wasn't there on a given day, my girlfriend would call me later that day and ask where I was, and me with her too. I have always been a major work out person, and here I sit. I think I have to retrain myself to get the routine going again.

Hey Cindylou,
I was having trouble in the mornings as well--mornings have been the most difficult for me "pain-wise." My routine has been: get up, take my pain medication and lay around until I start feeling better.
I decided to try and break this cycle recently. Something that has really helped me (and I thought I would pass it along your way) has been going on a walk shortly after I get up in the morning and before I take my pain medication.
I wish you the very best CL--make sure to take baby steps and remember the small day-to-day victories.![]()

Geez, you are my type of gals.I, too, am screaming to get out and RUN! I've notice the last couple of weeks that it is starting to hurt significantly just riding my bicycle. That, so far, has been my salvation. I am hoping to start acting like a t-devil
again after my surgery, though, I think my wife would prefer that I just start acting my age . . . .
Ha-ha. Good one Graysonlaw.![]()

I had my 9 month SI Joint Fusion follow up appt. on Thursday. We reviewed the Cat Scan that was ordered with it, and my Dr. wants to make some changes/add some new medications to get a better result with my bones fusing. It is fused, but he was showing me around it, how it has kind of a mottled look, and that is not good. I take my Actonel, my Oscal, I am a huge dairy consumer, but......
It is very frustrating. Part of my problem, I am sure is, I haven't up until recently, been doing much in the way of weight bearing exercise. My Dr. also has been seeing significantly better bone density results with Evista, with his patients. So......I am switching to Evista for 90 days, and a prescription dose of Vitamin D 50,000 units, 1 x wk, for 6 weeks. I will get another Cat Scan in 3 months, when I see him again. Will report back on if this medication switch boosts my bone health or not. I really do like this Dr. Very committed to his patients. I feel like I have just curled up in a mother's womb when I enter his office. Very friendly staff. His golden retriever, Jake, comes to work with him every day, in a downtown, high rise, office building, no less.
Jake roams the office, looking for love, in all the right places. :D It's a very feel good place. Oh, and beside the dog......hehe, the Dr. is a great surgeon too!
I imagine your future office, Justin, will feel this good!

CL- That is awesome that he brings his dog to work, how sweet! My vetenarian has a pet kangaroo that comes to work with him. The first time I was in the office, I am talking to people at the front desk and a kangaroo hops in with a diaper on! Then it just hopped back down the hall, like nothing. I had to ask if I really had just saw what I thought I did! LOL
I will be praying for lots of bone growth for you.
