Default Sherikmouse New again -- Maverick ADR L4-L5, 360 Cage L2-3-4, and PLIF L-2-3

Auto accident feb2002, workplace accident dec 2003 out of work april 2005. medicated PT, aqautic PT, Narcotics, Pain Management Program. That was when I knew I was at the end of the line. The Work Comp Drs were strange about the possibility of getting rid of the pain. Finally a Dr referred me to Dr Bertagnolli as well but after some investigating I decided to go to Stenum instead. Maverick ADR L4-L5, 360 Cage L2-3-4, PLIF L-2-3. The PLIF and Cage was for a rapidly advancing scoliosis as seen on sequential films.
I had a 50% improvement and went asking for anything. I had been told there was nothing that could be done for me and I needed to accept that( Work Comp) Not rehab. A mixture(bad) of medications illness caused multiple falls and I feel as tho I have lost about 30%.I still have to deal with the neck problem and my arms are a wreck. I have a slipped vertebraeC4 besides DDD. I desperately need and want to return to work.
By the way, the people at the Stenum hospital were wonderful. I watched as a nurse. I know that my trip to Stenum saved my life and I have heard others say that as well. To be told when in pain that there is nothing they can do is unacceptable. ASK or SCREAM FOR HELP. Sherikmouse

I'm so very sorry. And welcome to our board. I hope we can offer some help in any way, shape or form.

Have you contacted the good doctors at Stenum and told them what has been happening? They are known for going the extra mile if the original surgery doesn't work, or something goes wrong afterwards. I have a number of new very good friends, all former Stenum patients who I met in my search for surgery. Each and every one of them have come away very happy with their results. There are also a number of others here on the board who are Stenum clients, so you are in good company.
Severe compression of spinal cord, flaval ligament, etc. at C4/5 & 5/6.
Herniation and compression, at L3/4 to L5/S1 plus spondylosis at the latter level. Severe allergy to most metals.
Three level surgery in Brazil with Dr. Luiz Pimenta on March 17/2010 using non-metal appliances. L5/S1-PEEK cage, ALIF; L4/5-PEEK cage, XLIF; C5/6-NuVasive NeoDisc. Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things . Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. Gone from being almost bedridden to near normal activities including gardening. Life is gooooood!

    Hi Sherikmouse,

Welcome to the Spine Patient Society!

I'm sorry to read of your spine problems. We are here to support you. I have a couple of questions for you. How is your Maverick at L4-L5 holding up? Have you seen progression of your scoliosis on subsequent imaging? Are you currently working up your cervical spine issues?

I do hope that you will be able to return to work and that your cervical spine issues will be addressed appropriately (if/when your cross that bridge).

Please keep us posted on your progress, as we do care.
