You might PM WPKat on the forum. She has very recent surgery (June) at Stenum and likely has great advice. I'll be adding your surgery date to my calander thinking and praying for you day of surgery, Dave!

Germany just rocked Argentina 0-4 and I don't see them having any trouble with Spain today. I'm betting Miroslav and Schweinsteiger will be bringing home the win so you'll definitely be in town in the heart of all the WC fun! I've always wanted to party with real Germans in Germany. My best to you and your new wife and all success on surgery day.

When are you leaving? I'll be adding you to my list also.
Severe compression of spinal cord, flaval ligament, etc. at C4/5 & 5/6.
Herniation and compression, at L3/4 to L5/S1 plus spondylosis at the latter level. Severe allergy to most metals.
Three level surgery in Brazil with Dr. Luiz Pimenta on March 17/2010 using non-metal appliances. L5/S1-PEEK cage, ALIF; L4/5-PEEK cage, XLIF; C5/6-NuVasive NeoDisc. Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things . Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. Gone from being almost bedridden to near normal activities including gardening. Life is gooooood!

    Dave,

I've been kind of scarce in the last several months. I've read a lot of your posts and really empathize with what you've gone through. That's great news that you're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel finally.

Although I had my surgery at Stenum Hospital near Bremen, I'm sure you'll get the same great care I received. From the sounds of it, the new location gives the surgeon easier access to his patients before and after surgery. You've chosen a great surgeon and I'm sure you'll have a great outcome as I did.

The only advice I can give you on aftercare is to be very cautious with the travel back home. That was the hardest part of my recovery and led to other issues. Take every oportunity to "take the easy route". Make the airlines cater to your needs.

Good luck to you Dave. Our prayers will be with you.

    Hey, Dave,

Just saw your thread and wanted to say, "GOOD LUCK".
And listen to everyone on here, do not push too hard after surgery.
Wow, that is great that you got your family to help you get this needed surgery.

From what you were saying in the first post, you should be on the other side by now.
Man, i wish you the best. Remember it is an up and down recovery. That is what helped me the most, knowing that it was kind of like three steps forward, two back and so forth.

Oh, and Congrats on being married.

    Guten Tag,
