Your MRI pic looks absolutely amazing!!!!
I really hope you can take the time to post your surgery in the (SURGERY OUTCOMES) section of this forum b/c having a 3 level M6 Lumbar surgery is a kinda "Big Deal". You should share your experience (all the ups and downs) with all of us and the rest of the world.
I wish the disc in my neck looked all perfect and balanced evenly like the 3 disc in your back does. Somedays my DDD just makes me want to give up but when I see a pic like you posted in your blog I realize the technology might not have made it to the U.S.A yet but it's out there....wow... My mom wanted to take me to stenum where they wanted to do a 2 level M6 but I stayed here in Delaware and got stuck with a 1 level pro-disc because it was "free" by a doctor who had only done a few handfuls of ADR surgerys. Im so happy for you even if im jealous.

C4-5: Mild disc height loss with central annular fissure. Small broad-based left paracentral disc protrusion. Moderate central canal stenosis-the disc protrusion abuts and mildly flattens the left ventral surface of the spinal canal.
C5-6: Disc desiccation with mild height loss.Diffuse discosteophyte bulge anduncovertebral joint hypertrophy, moderate central canal stenosis- Severe neuroforaminal stenosis bilaterally, right greater than left
Congrats, David! Really impressed with your MRI picture. They look beautiful. Great to see you smiling in your post operative pictures though I know it's tougher than it looks. Rhatzy (Mark) said it took him four months to really begin feeling better after his two level lumbar so keep your eyes on the horizon. Great blog by the way.

April 2007 - Injured one cervical C6/C7 and one lumber L5/S1 in same accident
No major treatments so far aside from exercising and core strengthening best I can.
Never, ever, ever, give up.
David,
Congratulations! I hope your pain has eased and you're walking the halls already. The photo of your room and the view was a cool reminder of my stay there. If you have to recover from surgery, Stenum is as peaceful as it gets.
Have a great recovery after you go to the hotel as well (another great place) but take it slow and easy. Let others do things for you and just heal.
Welcome to the other side,
Bob

That is awesome news!!! I well remember how much all the comments from home and this forum meant when I was in Brazil for my surgery. Everyone was so encouraging and helpful with suggestions from when they had surgery.
The best advice I can give for the trip home is to arrange to have a wheelchair at the airport to whisk you and your family through Customs, etc. It saves so much pain and time and helps with the flight crew as well. When they know you are coming from a serious surgery, they usually try their best to help make you as comfortable as possible.
We were held up by very heavy traffic on our way to the airport in Sao Paulo. Although we left in plenty of time, traffic was at a standstill much of the time. Only two things got us on the plane on time....the staff whipping us through all the gates because of the wheelchair, and because the flight crew was stuck behind us in traffic![]()
Severe compression of spinal cord, flaval ligament, etc. at C4/5 & 5/6.
Herniation and compression, at L3/4 to L5/S1 plus spondylosis at the latter level. Severe allergy to most metals.
Three level surgery in Brazil with Dr. Luiz Pimenta on March 17/2010 using non-metal appliances. L5/S1-PEEK cage, ALIF; L4/5-PEEK cage, XLIF; C5/6-NuVasive NeoDisc. Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things. Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. Gone from being almost bedridden to near normal activities including gardening. Life is gooooood!
HI Dave
Thanks for the Blog I hope you continue to do very well.
Talk soon.

Hi Gill-
It was good talking to you too and it would be my pleasure to give everyone an update. My distraction pain was a little rough last night--my hips were killing me- due to over doing it yesterday. One of the upsides and downsides of the M6L is that it starts performing immediately and it can make one feel that they can do pretty much anything right of the bat. So I walked a little to far and stood a lot longer than I should have. Other than that my recovery has been pretty remarkable, I don't were a bandage anymore and I'm mobile. The doctor said that I can expect to get one percent better each day. It's been two weeks since my surgery and I would recommend the Stenum experience to anyone that is considering ADR. Well it's time to do my exercises, so I'll talk to everyone later.
-Dave
That's remarkable for only 2 weeks!! Take it easy for sure, you are very early out. Glad to hear that things are improving.
