    Happy Two-level M6-C implant outcome (C4-C5 and C5-C6)

Hello all. On Oct. 14, 2009, I had M6-C discs installed at C4-5 and C5-6 by spine surgeon Nick Boeree of the Spine Clinic. Surgery was performed next door at Nuffield Hospital, Eastleigh, Hampshire, UK.

As you probably know, Spinal Kinetics (www.spinalkinetics.com) M6-C discs have been in wide use in up to 3 levels in seven European countries after full testing and approval since 2003. They're currently in trial in the US and, if we're lucky MIGHT be approved for single level use in the US by 2014 or 2015.

I was the first patient into the operating theater in the morning and truly felt readty to leave the hospital when my surgeon came to check on me after his last case of the day. However, I'd promised him I'd stay in the hospital for two nights so I did.

From the moment I awoke from surgery to this moment, I have suffered NO surgery-related pain. From the first moment I've had full and normal movement exactly as the disc was designed to give me. I did had to re-train my mind that I don't have to "protect" my neck anymore.

I am terrified of the medical world but I can't speak highly enough about the rapport my surgeon and I quickly developed and have continued to maintain long distance. The anesthesiologist was fantastic and accomodated my needs. Hospital staff was awesome.

Feel free to contact me directly:

Marti! Thanks for sharing your story. It is amazing that you did not have surgically-induced pain.

I'm so glad that you are on the other side of surgery and that you are doing so well. Keep us posted on your progress and Happy Holidays!
